Billionaire's Marin Mansion Fetches $65 Million
A 12,000 square-foot mansion owned by the family of billionaire mining magnate Robert Friedland has gotten a sales contract for its full $65 million dollar asking price, an apparent record for Northern California. According to the real estate agent who handled the sale, an investor whose name was not disclosed agreed to buy the Marin County property two weeks ago. The contract is currently in escrow. The deal is expected to close in January. The home sits on a hilltop on Belvedere Island, about 15 miles north of San Francisco, and has views from the Golden Gate Bridge to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Read more
